Hey I just wanted to say one thing … actually a couple … about these tea parties …
1. If you didn’t attend one yesterday – your shit is seriously loose – and you need to get it in one sock because this is important. BE AT THE NEXT ONE MAGGOT.
2. If you were there … BRAVO ZULU (that is Navy speak for “GREAT JOB”).
Let me say this … when I was active duty – and even now that I’m retired … I’ve always had people come up to me and say “Thank You for your service”. I always felt a bit embarrassed by that – because the Navy was a job I loved and enjoyed – I didn’t need anyone to tell me that – I would have done the job even if no one was thankful.
And … as a military guy – I suppose another reason I got embarrassed is because I’ve always felt that even some “civilians” put more into serving the country than I actually did – or at least as much.
See – everyone has a “role” in this Democracy. For some – it’s serving on the front lines. For others – it’s creating jobs. For others – it’s teaching kids math and for others … it’s putting out fires and enforcing our laws.
And for others – IT MEANS STANDING UP FOR OUR DEMOCRACY AND OUR CONSTITUTION.
And that’s what you people did yesterday – you played a vital role. There are SO many military men and women that would have stood with you yesterday – but they are stationed overseas performing our nation’s work.
There were SO many military men and women that couldn’t be there – but were praying that enough of you cared to make it a success.
And what a success it was! And it needs to continue.
So on behalf of all those military folks – out there tonight defending this fine nation – on behalf of them I want to say to YOU …
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE.
You don’t have to wear a uniform to be a hero. You just have to stand in line and be counted – and you did.
