The Coming Age of Star Wars …

This is doable … and should be done.

But it SHOULD NOT BE TALKED ABOUT BEFOREHAND.

First, a point – our infant missile defense systems are coming online – they are no longer “unproven” … the capability now exists for us to shoot down enemy ballistic missiles laden with nuclear warheads.  We can save lives with these systems.  If nuclear non-proliferation fails (as it is about to in North Korea and Iran) … our missile defense systems give our President an option short of nuclear retaliation and the killing of MILLIONS of human beings.  Missile Defense Systems will change the landscape of nuclear deterrence.  Who do we have to thank for this?

RONALD REAGAN.

It was Reagan who first proposed and put money into developing these systems.  Some say that his support for missile defense touched off a “defensive” arms race with the Soviet Union that brought it to collapse.  I believe there is much truth in that statement.

Who do we NOT have to thank for our missile defense capability?

TED KENNEDY AND THE DEMOCRATS.

It was Ted Kennedy that coined the term “Star Wars” … a popular movie at the time Regan Proposed his Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI).  Kennedy and the Democrats ridiculed Reagan’s idea – fought the idea.  Obama even claimed during the campaign that he would “defund” the unproven systems.  Good thing for Obama he has no problem with lying – and can go back on that promise because these systems now give him an arrow in his quiver he didn’t have before.

So again … THANK YOU RONALD REAGAN.  And when Obama goes to sleep at night – he’s thanking you too (secretly).

That’s the first point.

Second point …

Why talk about shooting the missile down?  Wait until they shoot it – and then blow it out of the sky.  Don’t give the North Koreans a chance to posture – just surprise the living hell out of them.  How do you say “Sir our missile just went kaput!” in Korean?  I don’t know – but it would be cool to hear it.

Also – on the off-chance we failed to kill their missile – we could easily deny trying to shoot it down.  As it is now – the world expects us to shoot it (due to this announcement).  If we don’t – we’ll be seen as weak.  If we fail … our systems won’t be taken seriously.

We just need to shoot the damn thing – and that’s it.
