I won’t link to it – you’ve all seen it … Obama saying “You can put lipstick on a Pig … it’s still a pig.”
Was he referring to Sarah Palin?
Yes … he was either referring directly to her … or he was attempting to co-opt and “play” on the joke she’s “owned” for a week now.
Temporal Context is everything.
It’s an old joke … too old for a “cool guy” like Barack to make without a motive.
Sarah Palin made her “lipstick joke” at the Republican National Convention last week – it quickly became the one line of the speech that endeared her to everyone in middle america – particularly the “Hockey Moms” … “Soccer Moms” … what have you …
You know … the kind of “Moms” that have been hemorrhaging from Obama and flocking to McCain / Palin in the last week? The kind of Moms that are going to hand McCain a victory in November unless Obama figures out how to turn it around?
So yeah … Obama took another lipstick joke … and he told it … and it was aimed at Sarah Palin. He did it to either call her a “pig” in a peripheral benign fashion – or he did it to taint the joke she told – which has proven to be so expensive to him.
Either way – he should have known how the joke would be taken. The crowd reacted and took the joke as a slam on Sarah Palin – case closed.
So Barack deserves what he gets.
Is he “sexist” … hell yes! Was there any doubt? Ask Hillary. Poor Barry is out there attempting to “play the victim”. Ironically … the only person in this campaign that has been degraded (I won’t use the word “victim” because she’ll NEVER allow herself to be one) … is Sarah Palin.
Now if Barry was REALLY concerned about the rhetoric in this country … he’d go after the DailyKOS’s and the MOVEON.ORG’s and tell them to shut their pie holes. But he gets too much money from them to do that … “Change”? don’t think so.
